Busy-time marking and double-booking checks for volunteers
August 18, 2026 New - • Volunteers can now mark their own "busy" time — a class, another commitment — right on their personal schedule page. It shows up alongside your shifts so it's clear at a glance when you're actually free; tap a busy block to remove it. Only ever affects your own schedule, never anyone else's.
- • The admin volunteer schedule now shows a soft grayed-out band on a person's row whenever they're scheduled elsewhere at that time — on another task, or their own self-marked busy time — so you can spot conflicts without switching between tasks to check.
- • Assigning or editing a shift now warns if that person already has an overlapping shift somewhere else on the event. It's a heads-up, not a hard block, so you can still save if the overlap is intentional.
- • Right-click any empty space on a volunteer's row in the admin schedule to add a shift right there — it opens the New Shift form pre-filled with that person, that task, and a time snapped to the nearest hour on each side of where you clicked.
Ask an event a question — right from the site
August 17, 2026 New - • Anyone can now message an event's organizers directly through the site — no account and no registration required. Use "Ask about an event" on the Contact page (pick the event from a list) or "Ask the organizers a question" on the event's own page. If you're not signed in, you'll get an emailed link to follow the conversation; if you are, it shows up under "My Messages" on your profile.
- • Organizers reply from a new "Messages" section in the admin panel — either per event, or all at once from a combined inbox across every event you help run. New questions email you immediately so nothing gets missed.
- • Conversations update on their own every few seconds — no need to refresh — and each message shows a sent/seen checkmark once the other side has actually read it, similar to a messaging app. A notification bell in the header shows how many conversations are waiting on you, whether that's questions you've asked or ones you need to answer.
Fixed - • On the volunteer schedule, dragging the Gantt chart sideways to scroll could leave the task-collapse and shift-edit clicks completely unresponsive afterward. Clicking now works normally again regardless of how much you've dragged beforehand.
- • Changing filters on the mass-email page (status, payment, ticket type) didn't always narrow the recipient list — most noticeably, filtering to a specific ticket without also picking a payment status silently ignored the ticket filter and showed everyone. Filters now apply automatically as soon as you change them, and the recipient list is visibly greyed out while it's catching up so it's never mistaken for the fresh result.
Volunteer scheduling for events
August 17, 2026 New - • Events now have a Volunteers section in the admin panel. Create tasks (name, color, icon, description) and assign shifts to them, either one at a time or in bulk — the whole thing is laid out as a Gantt-style schedule: tasks first, then a row per volunteer underneath, with a date band and hour ruler across the top and idle stretches that collapse down until you click to expand them.
- • Bulk import volunteers from a CSV or Excel file — download a template pre-filled with the event's current shifts, edit it in Google Sheets (add people, fix times), and re-upload. The preview screen lets you fix flagged rows inline and "Re-check" before confirming, and re-importing an edited export automatically skips rows that already match an existing shift (same volunteer, task, and time) so you don't end up with duplicates.
- • Unclaimed shifts (imported without a linked account) are grouped by name in the admin panel, so you can link every shift for that person to a profile — or to yourself — in one click, instead of one shift at a time.
- • Volunteers can see their own schedule for an event at a personal link — a vertical timeline of just their shifts, with a tap or hover on any shift showing who else is working it with them. It also shows up as a quick "Volunteering" summary (your next 3 shifts) right on the home page for events happening this week.
- • A "Volunteer Hours" panel on the admin page shows total hours per person, broken down by task — each bar is split into colored, icon-labeled segments so you can see at a glance where someone's time went. Hover or click a segment to swap its icon for the exact hour count.
Improved - • Click and drag anywhere on the volunteer schedule to scroll it sideways, instead of needing to grab the scrollbar — clicking a shift or task still works normally. Clicking anywhere on a task's row now collapses or expands its volunteers too, not just the small arrow.
- • The event quick-info cards on the home page now use small buttons for actions like "View my registration" and "Manage accommodation" instead of plain text links, and the Volunteering list only shows your next few upcoming shifts instead of every shift for the whole event.
Fixed - • Editing a volunteer shift's time could save the wrong time depending on your timezone — entering 10 PM could end up stored as a different hour. Shift times now save correctly regardless of timezone.
Payment links that never expire
August 2, 2026 Fixed - • The hotel payment links sent from "Generate payment link" no longer go stale. Previously the email/copied link pointed straight at a Vipps checkout session, which expires after an hour — a link opened later than that would fail. It now points to a stable DancePoint link that mints a brand-new Vipps session the moment it's opened, so the same link works whether it's clicked in five minutes or in three weeks.
- • Saving roommates on the accommodation booking page silently failed for anyone whose booking history included a cancelled room (e.g. cancelled and rebooked) — the save would 404 behind the scenes with no visible feedback near the form. Fixed, and the Save Roommates button now shows a clear saved/error confirmation right there instead of relying on a banner at the top of the page.
Payment link nudges & approval page refresh
August 1, 2026 New - • Each "remaining balance due" hotel booking on the event dashboard now shows who booked it (with a link straight to their registration), the room and dates, and who they're rooming with — not just room and amount.
- • A "Generate payment link" button on those hotel bookings opens a small choice: send a direct Vipps payment link by email, or generate and copy the link yourself to share however you like (SMS, WhatsApp, etc.) — a manual nudge instead of extending the payment deadline.
Improved - • The registration approval page now matches the site's card style used elsewhere — a fading side border instead of flat boxes, color-coded by meaning (neutral for normal entries, amber for unmatched partners, green for matched pairs).
Faster feed loading
July 30, 2026 New - • Mass Email now has two new filters: pick a specific ticket/pass and target only those who've paid (or haven't) for that exact ticket, and filter by hotel booking payment state (deposit only vs. paid in full). Both combine with the existing status and payment filters, so you can target very specific groups, e.g. approved + Early Bird ticket unpaid.
- • Competitions no longer lock you into one format for the whole event — creating a competition is now just a name and a description. Each division you add picks its own format: Jack & Jill, Strictly, Routine, or Fun Comp.
- • Fun Comp divisions can mix formats within the same competition — plan a preliminary round as rotating Jack & Jill, then mark a later round "partnered" so it's danced with a fixed partner, using the same draw screen (random, rotation, or manual) already used for finals.
- • Strictly and Routine divisions register as a fixed couple — enter your partner's username at signup and you're both registered together immediately, no separate confirmation needed from them.
- • Results are now released per division instead of all at once for the whole competition — once a division's final round is calculated and locked, release just that division from the Setup tab. Other divisions stay hidden until you release them too, so you can, say, release Friday's divisions after Friday's awards without touching Saturday's. Results are never released automatically — only this explicit action publishes them and posts to the feed. Heat publishing is unchanged.

- • Cleaned up dozens of accessibility issues across admin and profile forms — screen-reader labels now correctly point to their fields, icon-only buttons have proper labels, and a few click-only controls now also work with a keyboard.
- • The accommodation booking page now matches the lighter look used across the rest of the site, with icons in place of emoji.

- • The individual event admin page now matches the lighter, less boxed-in look used across the rest of the site, and the publish/unpublish button is bigger and easier to spot. The old products summary panel (superseded by the dedicated Products page) has been removed.

- • Deleting a division and rolling back a round now use the same confirmation dialog as publishing/unpublishing heats, instead of a plain browser popup (division delete) or a bare inline Yes/Cancel (round rollback) — one consistent way to confirm anything impactful on the competition admin page.
- • Routine divisions check in differently: only the lead's entry needs a digital check-in and bib — checking them in automatically confirms their partner too, since staff verify the partner's presence in person.
- • Renamed "Head Judge Panel" to "Scoring Panel" to match what it actually does (viewing scores, calculating, and locking rounds). It's no longer duplicated at the bottom of the Judges tab — find it under Live Tools on the Overview tab instead. The Judges tab now links directly to assigning your judges to rounds.
Fixed - • The competition section on your registration page no longer appears for events that don't have a competition.
- • The manual code-entry field on the event check-in page wasn't actually enforcing the 4-digit format due to a bug in how the input pattern was written.
- • The Admin home page cards are now properly centered under the search bar instead of sitting off to one side.
- • Fixed a bug where planning a round structure could silently fail to save with no error shown, and where a stray database mismatch could block saving prelim/quarter/semi/final together.
Heat lists now post to the feed automatically
July 29, 2026 New - • Publishing a heat list in the competition admin panel now automatically posts it to the home feed — no extra step needed. Unpublishing it removes the post just as automatically.
- • Publishing or unpublishing an event or a heat list now shows a confirmation first, listing exactly what will happen (including the automatic feed post), with a loading indicator while it processes.
Improved - • The Events and Competition pages now use the same card-grid look as the feed, with a uniform card size regardless of how much info each event or competition has.
- • Individual competition pages have a lighter, less boxed-in look, and the heat lists there now match the same style used in the feed.

A new home feed, competition updates, and a refreshed layout
July 29, 2026 New - • The homepage is now a live feed — event announcements, ticket pricing updates, and other news show up right on the front page.
- • Posts support reactions (tap to like, hold for more options) and comments.
- • Competition heat lists, callback results, and final results can now be posted to the feed, with a live-updating heat/callback view and a top-3 podium summary.
- • A quick-info panel appears on the homepage if you're registered for an event happening this week — your check-in QR code, payment status, and competition status, all in one place.
- • New site navigation: a sidebar (desktop) and bottom navigation bar (mobile) for Events, Local Classes, Competition, and the Learning Portal, plus a search bar in the header.
Improved - • Competition pages — browsing competitions, heat lists, and results — no longer require signing in.
Fixed - • Comment author names now display correctly even when you're not signed in.
